FACTS ABOUT BUYING VINTAGE

Tan Candy’s vintage pieces are hand picked and personally curated by our head stylist Tanya Chisholm. We only purchase items in the best possible condition. Keep in mind that all vintage items were pre owned and once worn. When purchasing a vintage item, expect some natural wear due to age (20+ years). We always note in our descriptions, any minor flaws other than normal wear that may be present. Everything in our store is laundered and ready to wear. If you have any questions about a particular item, you can ask before you buy! We will get back to you quickly!

SIZING

Tag sizes of vintage & modern day sizes often differ greatly from each other. When we label something as a S, M, L, or One Size Fits Most, it is only an approximate size to be used as a guide. We suggest comparing the measurements of a garment you want in our shop, to a similar garment that you already own to see if the item will fit you. Measure the item flat, and double the measurements for the bust, waist and hips by 2. We do not offer a refund due to incorrect sizing, as we take extra care to list every and all measurements.

HOW WE MEASURE A VINTAGE ITEM:

All garments are measured flat. For bust, waist and hips, mulitply the measurement x 2 for the accurate size.

SHOULDERS:  The seam at one shoulder to the seam on the other shoulder.

BUST:  Armpit to armpit across bustline

WAIST:  The smallest point at the waistline from seam to seam. Drop waists are measured 1-2” below the natural waist. For empire waists, measurements are taken 1-2” above the natural waist.

HIPS:  The fullest or largest part of the hips measured straight across

SLEEVE LENGTH:  From the underarm to the bottom of the sleeve.

INSEAM:  On the inside of the leg (crotch), to the ankle hem.

TOTAL LENGTH: The shoulder seam to the longest point on the garment. For pants we measure from waist to outside ankle hem .

*Note: Please go by the measurements provided in each description, not by the picture. We sometimes clip an item on the model for an accurate looking fit.
